About Al Muslim and Al-Masjidh
Al Muslim and Al-Masjidh are two separate products. Al Muslim is the mobile app a person keeps on their phone. Al-Masjidh is the website at almasjidh.com, including the public pages and the private mosque office. They share a home so a mosque and the people who follow it can meet. An account in one does not become an account in the other.
Al Muslim, the mobile app
Al Muslim is for a person’s own day. It is downloaded from the app stores. A person can open it as a guest, or sign in with a Sri Lankan mobile number and a one-time code. The phone account belongs to that person.
On the phone, Al Muslim includes:
- Prayer times for Sri Lankan zones, with reminders the person turns on
- Qibla, using the phone’s location and compass while that screen is open
- A mosque finder for nearby mosques, with name, place, and map
- The Quran, with recitation, translation, and a player that stays available while reading
- Duas, hadith, tasbeeh, a salah guide, and a Hijri view of the day
- Prayer streaks and personal goals the person chooses to keep
- A profile the person can edit, and the choice to delete that phone account
After a person registers a mobile number, they can follow one mosque. Following is a choice inside Al Muslim. The followed mosque can then show its news, janaza notices, and bayan recordings in the app. Listening to a bayan stays inside Al Muslim. The recording itself is kept by the mosque.
Al-Masjidh, the website and mosque office
Al-Masjidh is the public website and the workplace a mosque uses. Anyone can open the site to read about the products, find a mosque, see sample prayer times, and reach support. A mosque that wants an office registers on Al-Masjidh. Staff then sign in with the mosque’s mobile number. That sign-in is a mosque-office session. It is separate from an Al Muslim phone account, even when the same number is used.
Inside a mosque’s own office, staff can keep:
- The mosque profile, cover, facilities, and published prayer times
- A join poster and QR code that opens that mosque in Al Muslim
- The list of people who follow the mosque in the app
- The Jamaat roll: registered members, pending requests, and member details the mosque records
- Announcements and janaza notices that followers can read in Al Muslim
- A bayan library: title, speaker, language, recorded date, and the audio file
- Sanda, zakat, and collections ledgers for the mosque’s own records
- The trustee board, meeting minutes, and mosque staff
- The office account for the people who run that mosque
Each mosque sees its own office. Ledgers, the Jamaat roll, trustee minutes, and staff records stay in that office. Followers in Al Muslim receive what the mosque publishes for them: news, janaza, and bayans.
How the two meet
A mosque prints its QR from the Al-Masjidh office. A person scans it with Al Muslim. After setup and a mobile number, the app can follow that mosque. From then on, announcements, janaza notices, and bayans the mosque publishes in the office can appear in the app.
Following a mosque and being on the Jamaat roll are two different records. A follow lives with the person’s Al Muslim account and lets them receive what that mosque publishes. The Jamaat roll lives in the Al-Masjidh office and is kept by the mosque for its own members. Joining the app, or following a mosque, does not place a person on that roll. The mosque adds and keeps the roll itself.
Built for Sri Lanka
Prayer times and the mosque directory are arranged around Sri Lankan zones and districts. In Al Muslim, a person can choose a zone or allow location so the times and nearby mosques match where they are. Qibla uses that location together with the phone’s compass.
